Passage: Matthew 6:9–15

Title: Lord’s Prayer pt 2
Text: Matthew 6:11-15

Notes:

“Nothing distinguishes the children of God so clearly and strongly as prayer. It is the one infallible mark and test of being a Christian.”- E.M.Bounds

Effective prayer recognizes who God is, seeks his will, and displays our dependence on Him.

Effective Prayer:
1. Dependent on God’s Providence
    - God invites us to to pray for our basic, physical needs.
    - As believers, we have many callings. We fill roles as children, parents, spouses, and employees. We need to look to God for strength and sufficiency in all these areas of our lives.” E.M. Bounds

2.  Dependent on forgiving others.
    -Pray for forgiveness.
    -Pray for a forgiving spirit.

-We forgive others as a sign of spiritual health and growth.

3. Dependent on God’s protection.
    -Lead us not into temptation.
    Pray for deliverance from Satan.

Prayer is the key to contentment and joy.

Prayer opens the heart to God, and it is the means by which the souls, though empty, is filled with God.”- John Bunyan

Pray like this”
    -Worship the Lord.
    -Seek His Kingdom.
    -Pursue His will.
    -Rely on His providence.
    -Confess and forgive others.
    -Pray for His protection.
