Leadership Matters

The Church is:

1.  God's Household

2.  The place where the Living God dwells

3.  Guardian of God's Word

Jesus is Godliness revealed (vs. 16)

Because of what the church is-Leadeship matters

Jesus is head of the church.

Elders-Servant Leaders

Qualifications in relation with God:

-Above reproach (vs. 2)

-Not a new convert (vs. 6)

-Able to teach (vs. 2)

Qualifications in relation with family:

-One woman man (vs. 2)

-Leads family/household well (vs. 4)

-Respected by children (vs. 4)

Qualifications in relation to self:

-Self-controlled (vs. 2)

-Sober minded (vs. 2)

-Not given to drunkenness (vs. 3)

-Not greedy (vs. 3)

Qualifications in relation with others:

-Not violent but gentle (vs. 3)

-Not quarrelsome (vs. 3)

-Well thought of by outsiders (vs. 7)

-Hospitable (vs. 2)

-Respectable (vs. 2)

Deacons-Leading Servants

General Deacon qualifications:

-Dignified (vs. 8)

-Not double-tongued (vs. 8)

-Not addicted to much wine (vs. 8)

-Not greedy (vs. 8)

-Faith and clear conscience (vs. 9)

-Tested (vs. 10)

Qualifications for Female Deacons:

-Dignified (vs. 11)

-Not slanderers (vs. 11)

-Sober minded (vs. 11)

-Faithful in all things (vs. 11)

Qualifications for Male Deacons:

-Husband of one wife (vs. 12)

-Managing children and households well (vs. 12)
