Genuine Faith

May 20, 2018 Speaker: Kevin Deyette Series: Sermon on the Mount

Passage: Matthew 7:15–23

Title: Genuine Faith
Text: Matthew 7:15-23

Notes:

The fruit of genuine faith is rooted in a relationship with Jesus.

Most dangerous people in the church: False teachers (wolves in sheep’s clothing).

How to spot false teachers: test their fruits.

  • Doctrine (what they teach)
  • Deeds (their character)

How do I know if I’m known by God?

  • Intellectual understanding is not enough.
  • Emotional response and feeling is not enough.
  • Words and works are not enough.

Everyone who believes will declare Jesus as Lord, but not everyone who declares Jesus as lord will actualy believe.

Is your faith rooted in what you know, what you feel, what you’ve done, or is your faith based on what Jesus has done?

Jesus didn’t ask us to prophecy, cast out demons, or perform miracles- He asked us to live our lives as if he is Lord. Live in relationship with Him.

God’s love changes what we think, what we feel, and what we do.

The fruit of genuine faith is rooted in a relationship with Jesus.
