Text: Genesis 12:10-20
Title: The Destructive Power of Lying
We may never be more like Satan than when we lie.
The heart of the issue of lying: we do not completely trust God.
"A little lie is like a pregnancy. It doesn't take long before everyone knows." - C.S. Lewis
Summary: Lying destroys our testimony and influence, showing our lack of trust and faith in God.
Application:
1) Know the truth (John 14:4; 8:23).
2) Anchor your heart in truth.
- Nothing can separate us from the love of God (Rom. 8:38-39).
- He will take care of all of our needs (Phil. 4:19).
- He will work all things out for our good and His glory (Rom. 8:28-29).
- He will be with us always, protecting us (Deut. 31:8).
- He will finish the good work He began in us (Phil. 1:6).
- He will give us an eternal, abundant life (John 17:3).
3) Bring darkness into the light (1 John 1:9, James 5:16).
