Passage: Genesis 18:16– 19:26
Title: God: Righteous and Just
Text: Genesis 18:16-33, Genesis 19:1-29
Speaker: Pastor Kevin Deyette
Notes:
- Outcry against Sodom (Gen. 18:20-21)
- The outcry against Sodom wasn't due to sexual sin, but due to prosperity, pride, and exploiting the weak. (Ezekiel 16:49-51, Luke 17:28-29)
- Abraham offers bold, compassionate intercession. (Gen. 18:22-33).
- Intercession means asking for mercy where judgement is deserved.
- God demonstrates both mercy and judgement. (Gen. 19:16, 29)
Message Summary: God is both merciful and just. He rightly judges a sinful world, yet invites His people to intercede for mercy on behalf of the lost.
Application:
- Be honest with sin under the surface.
- Intercede for others boldly / compassionately.
- Look to the only Righteous one - Jesus!
