Passage: Philippians 2:14–18

Text: Philippians 2:14-18
Title: Complaining and the Sovereignty of God

Root issue of complaining: Taking our focus off God and onto ourselves and our circumstances.

"Grumbling is not ultimately our hearts response to our circumstances but to God." - John Piper.

Paul's perspective: Jesus was at the center of His story, not himself and his feelings.

Summary: Complaining shifts our focus onto ourselves rather God and reveals our lack of trust and faith in Him.

How to overcome complaining:
1) remember God.
2) If you can change your circumstances, then do something about it.
3) If you can't change your circumstances, then change your perspective.
4) Practice gratitude.
